RJ45’s story starts in 2009, with a small office of six employees nestled in the back of a warehouse in Paarden Eiland. Founded by Doron Shmaryahu, Ashley Legg and Riaan du Toit, the company was born out of a desire to address something we felt the industry was sorely lacking… incredible service.

With existing business relationships of over fifteen years we were able, through reputation alone, to extensively grow our client base. To this day, we still count all these clients among our most loyal and valued business partners. Our success has been built on strong one-on-one relationships, developed over years of dedicated, hands-on service.

With our rapid road to success, we quickly outgrew our small warehouse office. Today we are based in  Waterkant Street and call the third floor of SALGA house our home.

At RJ45, we focus on cultivating a strong team spirit and supportive workplace environment, ensuring that our technicians remain encouraged to further develop their skill sets. Doron’s adventure into the world of IT started when he was still at school, selling PC’s and providing support to their owners. It is during this time that he discovered his insatiable thirst for technology and its place in society.

Starting in 1992, he has championed his way through the days of 2400 baud modems, from running bulletin board services to building and supporting multiple ISP’s. After years of honing his craft in the industry, he decided to tackle the future on his own terms.

Utilizing his extensive knowledge and keen knack for identifying new technologies and solutions, in January 2009 Doron started RJ45 together with Riaan Du Toit and Ashley Legg, who still stand by his side to this very day.

When Doron isn’t busy satisfying his avid passion for technological tinkering, you can find him furiously pedaling his bicycle through mountainous landscapes or speeding down long winding roads.

Ashley began his IT career in 1997, after joining the technical team of a commercial printing firm in Cape Town. Here he unearthed his love for all things MAC, so much so that he went on to become an Authorized Apple engineer and leader of the technical team.

After leaving the printing firm, he went on to pursue his dream of starting his own business and Coza Digital was born. Coza Digital leaped from success to success and soon became a local Authorized Apple dealer, further echoing his admiration for the world of MAC.

After turning his business into a success, Ashley took a sabbatical from the IT-universe and joined his brother’s building company as a project manager. But with his technological itch left unscratched, it didn’t take long before he returned and eight months later, RJ45 was born.

According to Ashley, the only thing that truly competes with his obsession for IT is his keen love for surfing.

Riaan has always had an avid fascination with taking things apart and seeing what makes them tick.

His love for computers was sparked the day he first encountered programming in primary school. Soon after, he became his neighborhood’s go-to computer whiz, spending his weekends helping the community overcome their technological struggles. This is where he discovered his interest in software and hardware troubleshooting.

While still completing his matric, Riaan was offered his first job as a PC tech at a computer company based in Mosselbay.

In 1996 Riaan made the move to the Mother City and it was here that he met Doron, still unaware of the great things they would accomplish in the future. During his tenure at the company, he developed an affinity for Microsoft products, specialising in exchange servers.

Naomi’s career started in the fast-paced world of fashion. As a qualified fashion designer, she went into fashion retail before moving on to clothing design and production. In 1997, she was approached by a prominent Dutch textile manufacturer to establish and run their first satellite office in Cape Town.

After being appointed as the Regional Manager for the Western Cape, Naomi spent the next few years further developing her customer service and management skills, learning about Human Resources and managing staff relations, and acquiring knowledge in the running and management of a business.

With the wealth of experience she earned in this time, she went on to start her own retail African fabric store in the V&A Waterfront, which she ran until she joined RJ45 in 2009.

Originally, Naomi joined RJ45 purely to provide temporary assistance with raising quotes, placing orders, and establishing basic policies and procedures. Fortunately for us, it didn’t take too long for the RJ45 bug to bite and, before we knew it, she was a core member of the team.

Today she successfully runs the RJ45 Finance Department, dealing with HR and personnel issues, assisting with marketing and ensuring company compliance.

Jared’s attraction to the world of computers started the day he took his first breath, using it to tell the doctor that he needed to “upgrade his tech systems”.

After completing his studies at the University of Cape Town, Jared joined RJ45 as a junior technician in February 2014.  Hungry for knowledge and the evolution of his abilities, he continuously improved upon his already impressive skillset by drawing knowledge from both his superiors and colleagues.

After showing promise and steadfast dedication to his responsibilities, Jared was promoted to Technical Team Leader in late 2016 and tasked with providing support and guidance to his team of technicians.

Deidre’s professional endeavors started in 1993 as a temporary store assistant. After showcasing an avid passion for her profession, she soon became a permanent addition as a Store Controller and eventually received a promotion to Store Manager.

Here she discovered her adoration for the world of retail. She later moved on to another retailer, taking on the position of Admin Supervisor and spent the next few years soaking up every bit of knowledge and experience she could.

After multiple years in retail, Deidre eventually decided to move over to the Coding industry as a receptionist. Once again showing promise beyond her position, one month later she was promoted to internal sales and eventually became the Admin Manager of the Cape Town branch. She was responsible for all travel arrangements for the group, purchase orders, stock controlling, and technicians’ overtime submissions.

After more than a decade in the Coding Industry, Deidre finally made her way to RJ45. As history had previously shown, even though she started out as an admin assistant, she quickly gained more responsibility, exponentially growing her scope of work.

Today, Deidre enjoys her role as an Admin Manager at RJ45 and is considered as an integral part of the organization.
